Spotted – Pontiac Silver Streak

You don’t see many of these around, and given that Pontiac is a deceased brand, it makes it even more interesting. I’m not sure what year it is. We saw this car in the parking lot at the WalMart in Herkimer NY – picking up supplies on our way to Niagara Falls.

50’s Sock Hop Night at Herkimer KOA

It’s sock hop and Ice Cream Social Night here at Herkimer KOA. We decided to go for a walk with Maya and check out the rest of the campground. It really is a great place, and filled with families of all sizes, with kids of all ages … and yes, Brody and I did go … Continue reading »

An afternoon at the Diamond Mines

Since we’re staying at the Hermiker Diamond Mines KOA, we decided to go and spend the afternoon digging for diamonds. Now Hermiker Diamonds aren’t “really” diamonds, but they are a special classification of Quartz Crystals that, if you find the right one, have a good resemblance to a cut diamond. So we spent a couple … Continue reading »

A parade of motorcycles

While coming back from picking up Maya’s repaired crate today (see Repairs & Fixes on the road), I ended up on a nice country road heading back to the Hermiker KOA, and got stuck at a light for nearly 10 minutes while a parade of a few hundred motorcycles came along. It looked like a … Continue reading »

Repairs and fixes while on the road

We have a few things to fix/repair while on our trip. After arriving at our destination last night we discovered that the hanging closet rod bracket broke and now all of our organized, hanging clothes are not hanging up anymore. Guess it’s a good thing that we’re not worried about wrinkled clothes while on our … Continue reading »

The First “Real” Trip Away

So here we go. After weeks, well really months,or you could even say years, of preparation, we headed off in our “new to us” MotorHome for our first trip away. Our day got off to a late start, but really isn’t that expected anyway 😉 We hit the road pointed towards Niagara Falls, NY. Our goal … Continue reading »

Off to Niagara Falls, NY

So we’re packed up, and headed to Niagara Falls, NY. Unfortunately we let our passports expire, so we can’t cross the border into Canada … at least not yet. The MotorHome spent a few days at the dealer earlier this week to get a new LP Tank and fix a few things on our ‘we-owe” … Continue reading »

A few more modifications before our first extended journey

So we’ve been delayed by a few days with setting off on our first extended journey. We’re waiting on a few “we-owe” items from the dealer, along with a service date for the new LP tank. Work – both regular projects, and getting ourselves well set to take the office on the road, along with … Continue reading »

Getting the Mobile Office Ready

We’re back at home base in CT for a few days. Packing up the MH with all the things we think we’ll need. I’m also installing all the gear we’ll need to be mobile with our office. Today’s project was finding a home for a wireless HP inkjet printer. The overhead storage cabinet over the … Continue reading »

The Maiden Voyage

So we decided to spend our shakedown cruise at the place where we first started camping as a family – Normandy Farms Family Campground in Foxboro, Mass. Normandy Farms is a really great, clean place to camp with family and friends. The campground is pretty full … there are a few open spots, but only … Continue reading »
